Annabel Trechmann

I first started painting when I was about 11 years old as we had a Nature Notebook with pages for drawing and painting and lined paper for notes. I was so pleased to discover the wild flowers in England that I wanted to paint them. I continued painting at home with the encouragement from my parents. Later, having done my breeding, I went to classes and learned about the different paints, brushes and paper. I learnt that different papers, good paints etc. could make a huge difference to the end result. I continued going to classes once I had finished full-time work. There is so much to learn about the subject. I prefer painting wild flowers and fruits but keep trying to achieve better results, trying different plants. Watercolour is my favourite medium; sometimes I make an addition in graphite. I have also tried pen and wash and I keep learning. I find being part of the BSBA helpful to gain more experience.
